Caledonian Sleeper's New Caledonian Double (Accessible Room)

When people think of travelling between England and Scotland, most people currently think of flying only to realise that they don't want the problem of the various restrictions that come with it. Or worse if you're a wheelchair user, the worry of arriving at your destination to a broken wheelchair should it have to go in the hold! There's also the worry of the carbon footprint of flying for the more environmentally conscious traveller. However, driving to Scotland can get too

Accessible Train Travel: LNER Intercity 225 First Class

When you think of travelling along the East Coast from London to the north, LNER tends to be the first choice for most people. The Euston-Edinburgh service is a lot longer, and when travelling to places like York or Hull, the other train operating companies just seem to provide a worse service to LNER. With that in mind, it's time to review LNER's Intercity 225 (Mark 4 carriages with class 90/91) First Class! LNER tends to be the train company of choice when it comes to trave

Accessible Train Travel: Virgin Trains First Class

Well, It's been a long time since my overall views on first-class train travel for wheelchair users as well as those with other impairments, so it's no wonder that it's been a long time coming for me to finally give a breakdown, TOC by TOC of what each company has to offer in terms of their first class product. For this journey, I was travelling from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston which gave me plenty of time to review different aspects of the first class product. Fir

Train Travel: Travelling First Class As A Wheelchair User

Before I became a wheelchair user, I always travelled first class on trains. Why? Because in the long run, with the train companies I was using, first class was actually decent value for money (cheers CrossCountry!). Since then, I've still travelled first class where I can, but since becoming a wheelchair user, I've noticed that not all train companies in the UK are as accommodating as CrossCountry, Virgin Trains (both West and East coast), and some other train companies.
