King Street Townhouse Manchester: Junior Suite (Luxe JS)

Manchester, It's a gem of a city with a great mix of the modern, the sophisticated and the historic all in one place. Manchester is one of those cities that I always recommend to people after a nice weekend city break in the UK, but for a great getaway to be memorable you need to stay at a great hotel. Allow me to introduce to you King Street Townhouse and their Luxe JS (their name for their junior suites).

The King Street Townhouse is Manchester's hidden gem, a baby grand 4* hotel that feels like a 5*. From the outside, it looks small and is easy to miss when going along the street, but inside it's a paradise of beautifully designed rooms, social spaces, and above all, Manchester's best skyline view right from their rooftop spa pool and relaxation area. If like me, and you're disabled but can drag yourself upstairs using upper-body strength, the pool is a must-visit for gram-worthy photos as well having the ability to relax whilst admiring the view over Manchester. The rest of the spa area is accessible, with a lift taking you up to the spa and relaxation area.

I stayed in the Luxe JS for this review. King Street Townhouse has 3 of these junior suites, and they certainly scream luxury from the moment you enter. For starters, there’s the beautifully designed entrance area into the main living area, something which you don’t get in most suites let alone junior suites. Then there’s the roll-top bath at the end of a super king sized bed, and the bed itself was a good height for me to transfer onto. Space was tight in some areas for me to get through in my wheelchair, and it’s worth noting that none of the Luxe JS’s are tagged as wheelchair accessible.

The bathroom entrance is to the right-hand side of the bed and was a little tight to get into with my chair, a chair any bigger than mine wouldn't be able to do it. The bathroom has a walk-in rain shower which has no step into it, so if you're one to bring your own shower chair then this is a bonus. There's also his and hers sinks, as well as plenty of toiletries from ESPA. I found the sinks to be easy to use from my chair too. There's also a walk-in wardrobe area to the left of the bed however, I was not able to get down the side of the bed to this in my wheelchair.

Back to the living area, there's a desk in the back corner and a sofa with TV which makes great for socialising. There's also another TV in the bedroom and a retro-styled radio/sound system with Bluetooth connectivity so you can play your own music in the room. There's also a Nespresso machine, and a very well stocked paid-for minibar. The room does come with complimentary water on the desk, and we were given the welcome present of a cookie too.

Overall, and despite the problems with space, I love the Luxe JS. It has a homely feel to it, and contains some extremely beautiful features too! The roll-top bath is to die for and the relaxation/spa area of the hotel really is its hidden gem. I just wish at least one of the Luxe JS's was made accessible. Having said that, this is one hotel that I'll definitely be coming back to in the future, and I'm hoping that next time I'll be able to review the suite for you all. I've seen the photos and it looks phenomenal in its own right.
