Hilton Hotels Northampton Suite

As Part of my Accessible Hotels series, in this post I'll be review Hilton Hotel Northampton and one of their suites. Brett and I recently stayed here and were very impressed by this hotel and the level of service we received throughout.

The Hilton Hotel at Northampton is a 4 star hotel, situated just off of junction 15 of the M1, with easy access to the A45, A508 and other main roads. The hotel is around 40 minutes from the M25, 25 minutes from Milton Keynes, and just 12 miles from Silverstone, making it the perfect hotel to stop over at for events, visits, conferences or just visiting friends and family. The hotel has plenty of parking, and the grounds are very welcoming, with a garden/terrace area in the middle which can be accessed via the bar. The hotel has a health club with pool. gym and spa pool facilities, as well as a good restaurant with a range of food choices on both the room service and normal restaurant menus. The bar in the hotel is open 24 hours however, after 2300 you need to go to reception to request service.

The staff at reception are really helpful, and although we had a problem in that the only suite left was upstairs with no lift, because that was the best suite in the hotel, I decided on an unconventional way of getting upstairs to the suite that we were booked into. If you've seen the NH hotels Valencia Center review, You'll probably guess what it was! It's also right at the beginning of the video. We did however, get free drinks vouchers for the inconvenience caused.

The suite itself was large with separate living area, bedroom and bathroom. The living area contained a sofa, two chairs, a large TV, storage and a desk as well as the coffee and tea facilities which had a couple of biscuits on the tray at the back. Unfortunately, these suites didn't come with a coffee machine and the water left in the room was chargeable at £2.50 a bottle, something I thought was cheeky as I've never paid for water in a suite before, and even the deluxe rooms in Hilton's DoubleTree brand don't charge for the water in the room. The bed was kingsize and very comfy, and the bedroom had another large TV. Both TVs were Samsung which was great as we have Samsung TVs at home. Unfortunately, the view the room gave wasn't great because of the roof right in front of it but the size of the suite as a whole and the service received made up for that. The bathroom had a grab rail and the shower was over the bath. I was able to get my chair under the sink which was great, and the sink area was large with lots of storage space so I was able to get ready in there, including doing my makeup and hair.

The breakfast buffet at the hotel was absolutely outstanding with so much choice. I'm now on a very low carb, high protein diet which literally means I can't have starchy carbs like bread, pancakes, waffles, pastries etc, so I was worried that there wouldn't be much choice. However, this was probably the biggest breakfast buffet I've ever seen at a hotel in the UK in terms of choice. As well as the full english buffet, there was a continental buffet with a range of fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, meats and even fish including smoked salmon! You could also request fresh omelettes, poached eggs and other items that weren't out on the buffet to be made in the kitchen for you. I took up the option and asked for poached eggs which were absolutely gorgeous! The staff also came around with fresh orange juice, and a selection of smoothies a few times during breakfast service which I asked for a strawberry smoothie as well as the orange juice. The breakfast as a whole could not be faulted whatsoever.

As a whole, this hotel really impressed me, and I look forward to hopefully visiting again at some point. All of the staff were happy to help where needed and we were definitely made to feel welcome throughout our stay. We just need to remember to let them know that we require a room on the ground floor! I'm not too sure how I'd feel about dragging myself upstairs again, even if it is to get to the best suite in the hotel!
